How to export or delete your data
In short
Open Settings and go to Data. Download all your data gives you one JSON file with everything Mitta has on you, and Workouts as CSV gives you your sets for a spreadsheet. To delete your account, go to Settings, then Account, then Delete account, and type DELETE. Your account and the data linked to it are erased straight away. It cannot be undone.
Where are export and delete?
Both are in Settings.
- Under Data: Download all your data (JSON file) and Workouts as CSV (For Excel or Numbers).
- Under Account: Delete account.
If you use Mitta on an iPhone, the file opens in the share sheet, where you can save it to Files, AirDrop it or mail it. In a browser it downloads like any other file.
What is in the export?
Tap Download all your data. You get one JSON file, with one list per kind of data. JSON is plain text. You can open it in any text editor, but it is meant for programs more than for reading.
It holds your account (email address, sign-in method, when you signed up), your profile, workouts, sets, cardio, food log, weight and body measurements, programmes and schedules, recipes and meal plans, training blocks, check-ins and your profile photo. It also holds the data that lives only on our server: coach conversations, what the coach remembers, AI usage, your consent choices, email and push logs, and plan codes you used. Your push notification keys are left out.
When you are online, the file comes from our server, so it also covers a second device and anything not yet synced to this one. When you are offline, Mitta builds the file from the copy on your device. Coach conversations and AI usage are then only included if the server can be reached, and the file says so when it could not fetch them. The file also states which of the two it is: server or device.
| Download all your data | Workouts as CSV | |
|---|---|---|
| Format | One JSON file | One CSV file, opens in Excel or Numbers |
| Contents | Workouts, food, weight, plans, recipes, coach messages and more | Completed sets only |
| Source | Our server when you are online, otherwise this device | The copy on this device |
| File name | mitta-gegevens-2026-10-27.json | mitta-trainingen-2026-10-27.csv |
The exercise and food libraries are not in the file. Only exercises and foods you made yourself are.
What is the CSV for?
Workouts as CSV is for a spreadsheet. It has one row per completed set, oldest first, with these columns: datum (date), training, oefening (exercise), set, type, gewicht_kg, reps, reps_links, reps_rechts (left and right reps), rir, rpe, rust_s (rest in seconds) and notitie (note). The column names are in Dutch. Weight is always in kg.
The CSV has no food, weight or profile. Use the JSON file when you want all of it.
How do you delete your account?
- Open Settings, then Account, then Delete account.
- Read the warning. If you want a copy first, tap Download your data first.
- Type DELETE in the box. The red button only works once the word matches.
- Tap Delete permanently.
You need to be online. Mitta asks for a recent sign-in as well: if you signed in more than 15 minutes ago, you see For your security, sign in again first. You can then delete your account right away. Sign in again and repeat the steps. This is so a stolen or forgotten open session cannot wipe your account in one request.
When it works, you see Your account and data have been deleted. The copy on the device is cleared and you are signed out.
What is erased, and what is kept?
Mitta first removes your profile photos from storage, then deletes your account. Everything in the app database that belongs to your account goes with it, because every table is linked to the account and is deleted along with it. That covers workouts, sets, food, weight, programmes, recipes, coach conversations, what the coach remembers, usage and your consent history. It is gone at once, not after a waiting period, and you cannot get it back.
A few things are kept. The privacy statement lists them:
- A record of plan changes, for our statistics. When you delete your account, the link to you is cut and the record keeps only a random ID, with no name or email address.
- If you were invited as a tester, the invitation (name and email address).
- Your signup on the website (email address and your answers), until you ask us to remove it. Ask us and we remove these too.
Services that handle data for us keep it on their own schedules. Anthropic, which runs the AI coach, normally deletes what it received within 30 days. Backups of the website database are kept for 14 days. Both are in the privacy statement, along with the rest.
What if you cannot use the app?
Email us from the address of your account, with the subject Delete account. We check that the account is yours and delete it within 30 days, usually much sooner. You get a confirmation. The address is in the privacy statement.
If you only want to remove your coach conversations, use Delete chat history instead. That keeps your account and your logs. Turning the AI coach off also erases what the coach remembered about you.

Questions about
How to export or delete your data
Can I get my account back after deleting it?
No. Deleting is final. Download your data first if you might want it later.
Do I need to be online to export?
No. Offline, the file is built from the copy on your device. Coach conversations and AI usage need a connection.
Can I import the JSON file into another app?
Mitta does not read it back, and other apps will not know its layout. It is a complete copy for you to keep. The CSV is the one for spreadsheets.
Does deleting my account cancel a payment?
Paying is not open in the app yet, so there is nothing to cancel there.
Is my data removed from the AI coach too?
What the coach sent to Anthropic is held by Anthropic, which normally deletes it within 30 days. Content its systems flag as abuse can be kept longer.
