How to set reminders
In short
Open Settings and find the Notifications group. Switch on Notifications on this device, then pick which reminders you want and at what time. Reminders are free on every plan. Whether they arrive depends on your device, and during the beta delivery is not guaranteed.
How do you turn reminders on?
- Open Settings and scroll to the Notifications group.
- Switch on Notifications on this device. Your browser or phone asks for permission. Allow it.
- Switch on the reminders you want. They appear once notifications are on.
You can also be asked at the end of setting up your plan: Want a reminder on your training days? with the choices Yes, please and No, thanks. The permission prompt only appears after you tap Yes.
Notifications are per device. If you use Mitta on a laptop and a phone, switch them on on each one. To stop them on a device, switch Notifications on this device off again.
Which reminders are there?
| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Reminder on training days | A reminder when a workout is on your plan that day, at the time you choose. | On |
| Weekly overview on Monday | Tells you your weekly check is ready. | Off |
| Heads-up when your trial is about to end | One notice about a day before a trial ends. Only shown while you are on a trial. | On |
| Morning weigh-in reminder | A reminder at 07:30 to weigh yourself. Only in the iPhone app. | Off |
The weekly overview is opt-in, so you have to switch it on yourself. Reminders are not tied to a plan: nothing in the plan list limits them. The weekly check itself is a Pro feature.
How do you choose the time?
With Reminder on training days on, a Time row appears. You can pick 06:00, 07:00, 08:00, 09:00, 12:00, 16:00, 17:00, 18:00, 19:00 or 20:00. The default is 08:00. The time applies to the training-day reminder only.
In the web app, reminders are timed on Amsterdam time. If you live in another time zone, pick the hour with that in mind.
When does a reminder actually arrive?
A training-day reminder comes on a day when a strength workout is scheduled in your plan, at your chosen hour. In the web app it is skipped if you have already started a workout that day, and you get it once per day. The text is short: Training today, and the name of your workout. Mitta never puts weight or food on your lock screen.
The weekly notice arrives on Monday between 09:00 and 20:00, and only when last week's check is ready and you have not opened it yet. It says Your weekly check is ready and opens the check.
What do you need on your device?
- Web app in a browser. Reminders are web push messages. They work in Chrome, Edge and Firefox. Your browser has to allow notifications for Mitta.
- iPhone, web app. Notifications only work when Mitta is on your home screen. In Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. Mitta shows this as a note in the Notifications group until you have done it.
- iPhone app (TestFlight, when available). The phone plans the reminders itself, for the next seven days. This works without internet. The app also uses notifications for the end of a rest timer when the phone is locked.
If you refused the permission, Mitta shows that notifications are blocked. Turn them on in your phone or browser settings, then come back.
Reminders in the web app are sent by a server. During the beta that sending may not be switched on yet. If you set everything up and nothing arrives, this is the first thing to suspect, not your settings.

How Mitta does it
A reminder for the day, not a nag.
Mitta keeps reminders to a few things you choose. You set the hour, you switch each one on or off, and the text never contains your weight or food.
- Training days onlyA reminder on days with a planned workout, once, not if you already trained.
- Your hourPick any of ten times between 06:00 and 20:00.
- Weekly check is opt-inOff by default. You get one notice on Monday when it is ready.
- Nothing private on the lock screenOnly the workout name or a short line. No weight, no food.
A nudge on the days you train.
Set your hour once and carry on. Free to start, in the web app for invited testers.
Questions about
How to set reminders
Do reminders cost anything?
No. Reminders are not part of any paid plan. The weekly check they point to is a Pro feature.
Why is there no Notifications section on my device?
Mitta hides it when your browser or phone cannot receive web push. On an iPhone it first shows how to add Mitta to your home screen.
Can I get a reminder to log my food?
No. Mitta has reminders for training days, the weekly check, the end of a trial and, in the iPhone app, weighing in.
What does a reminder show on my lock screen?
The name of your workout, or a short line like Your weekly check is ready. Weight and food never appear.
I allowed notifications but nothing arrives.
Check that Reminder on training days is on and that a strength workout is planned that day. If you already trained that day, there is no reminder. In the web app, delivery also depends on the server sending during the beta.
